Nothing but Clear Blue Skies & High Scores
The weekend of October 7th – 9th, 2011 proved to be a perfect weekend for everyone who participated in the Tennessee Volunteer Schutzhund Club’s first DVG (Deutscher Verband Der Gebrauchshundsportvereine) trial. DVG Judge Sandi Purdy did an excellent job of evaluating each handler and canine team. Congratulations to all six dogs that participated and passed their BH (Begleithund or Companion Dog).
• Kathy Green and her German Shepherd Cliff vom Flutgraben (purchased from Happy Valley Kennel) earned High Schutzhund 1 with scores of 97 in Tracking 88 in Obedience and a near perfect score of 99 in Protection.
• Damien Berry and his Belgian Malinois Shelby earned High Schutzhund 2 scoring 86-95-92
• Richard Scott and his German Shepherd “Brixi” scored 94-96-100 a perfect Protection rating.
Congratulations!
Richard and Brixi earned a qualifying score and will be competing at the DVG National Championship October 27th – 30th in the Washington, DC area. We wish them well.
Volunteer Schutzhund Club Spring Trial
The Volunteer Schutzhund Club will be hosting a German Shepherd Dog Club of America- Working Dog Association (GSDCA-WDA) trial in the early spring.

Perfect Score: 100pts. in Protection
2011 German Shepherd Dog Club of America – Working Dog Association National Championships
Krista Wade and her German Shepherd Berlin vom Glucklich Tal earned a perfect score of 100pts. making them High in Trial in Protection at the GSDCA-WDA National German Shepherd Dog Championships held in Franklin, TN in May 2011. Berlin and Krista placed 6th overall.
Their routines demonstrated extreme power and drive. These desired genetic traits are expressed in the German Shepherd puppies Berlin is producing. This team is a true representation of the quality of training at Happy Valley Kennel.

2011 GSDCA-WDA National Champions
Carl Smith and Bodo vom Flutgraben retain their National Champion title for the 2nd year in a row. Bodo and Carl earned High in Trial Obedience and had the 2nd highest protection score with a score of 99pts. Bodo’s overall performance was precise, powerful and consistent. These characteristics are showing up in the puppies he has produced.

Berlin and Krista Are Selected for USA Team
Berlin and Krista Earn a Position on the USA WUSV World Championship Team
As a result of all their hard work and dedication, Krista Wade and Berlin vom Glucklich Tal earn the right to become one of the select 6 teams to represent the United States at the 2010 WUSV German Shepherd World Championships in Sevilla, Spain. “It is an honor to be selected to represent the United States at the World Championships!” says Wade. “It is the ultimate goal to compete against the Worlds best German Shepherd teams. A dream come true!” exclaims Wade.
She would not have had this opportunity had it not been for the many people who helped her achieve this life long goal. Most importantly her family’s constant support and encouragement, equally important Carl Smith, who helps with more than the protection training but the training program as a whole, the members of the Volunteer Schutzhund Club, as well as, T. Floyd.
Congratulations again to Happy Valley Kennel’s super stars: Krista and Berlin.
Selected For The USA WUSV World Championship Team
Bobo and trainer Carl Smith earn a Position on the USA WUSV World Championship Team
2010 German Shepherd Dog Club of America – Working Dog Association National Championships held in Peoria, IL awarded Carl Smith and his imported German Shepherd Bodo vom Flutgraben the top honors of National Champions after their amazing performances.Bodo and Carl received the High in Trial in Obedience.
Carl Smith and Bodo will be representing the United States at the WUSV World Championships in Sevilla, Spain.
Two outstanding Tennessee German Shepherds and their handlers will participate in the WUSV World Championships. Congratulations to you both!

Working Dog Association National Championships
After pouring down rain and freezing temperatures in Peoria, IL Berlin vom Glucklich Tal and Krista Wade came home with the High Handler, Owner and Trained (H.O.T.) award.
To qualify for the H.O.T. Award the dog must be:
• purchased before 1yr of age
• have no existing titles under another handler or owner
• all titles must be acquired by the owner of the dog
• the dog is to be trained by the owner.
In addition to, earning High H.O.T., Berlin and Krista placed 5th overall. They will be a member of the elite six member team that will be representing the United States at the German Shepherd WUSV World Championship is Sevilla, Spain.
